Carving Class | Genesee Country Village & Museum

Join award-winning instructor Chris Kieber for an adult wood carving class – appropriate for all levels! Participants will learn the basic types of cuts essential to the woodworking craft, and will create a cute hand-crafted snowman ornament! 

No previous experience is required.

A wood blank and pattern will be provided. Participants should bring their own Kevlar cut-resistant gloves to use on their non-dominant hands. The instructor recommends either a Kevlar glove with rubber gripping dots or a Kevlar glove reinforced with steel threads. Participants may bring along their own fixed-blade knife, borrow a knife for use during the class, or purchase their own fixed-blade knife to bring along. The instructor recommends the Flexcut brand of knives. Fixed-blade knives and Kevlar gloves can be found at local wood carving supply stores or online. Participants should also bring along their own lunch.
