The Beaver Meadow Audubon Center features many programs and services to serve the general public with natural history education and outdoor recreation opportunities. Beaver Meadow features school and Group tours, 24/7 public access to 8 miles of nature trails on a 324 acre nature preserve.
The 8,000 square-foot Visitors Center and Indoor Exhibits are open to the public six days/week, 10-5 p.m., 1-5 p.m. Sunday (closed on Mondays and major holidays) and include a gift shop, nature library, children's discovery room, nature and animal exhibits, and wildlife observation windows. Winter Activities include snow shoeing and cross-country skiing.
Buffalo Audubon Society has operated its nature center at Beaver Meadow for more than 50 years.
Also, the Buffalo Astronomical Association maintains a Dark Site Observatory at Beaver Meadow. The Observatory includes a variety of instruments, including a 20-inch Obsession telescope, one of the largest public observation telescopes in Western New York!) The Observatory is open to the public the first Saturday evening of the month, from April through October - so come enjoy the night sky like never before!
