Our vibrant small town come alive with community celebrations each year, from fairs and festivals to concerts, parades and more. With dozens of events throughout the summer months, there’s always something happening on your Fresh Air Adventure! We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite annual and seasonal events, but check out our events calendar for the most up-to-date listings during your visit!
Fairs
Classic family fun for everyone! Our small-town fairs are a blast from summers past with animals, rides, and snacks to keep everyone happy.
Allegany County Fair
July 18 – 23, 2022
For 177 years, the Allegany County Fair has brought neighbors and visitors together to enjoy a week of sweet treats, wild rides and country fun. From tractor and truck pulls to animal shows and demolition derbies, there’s always something exciting to see. Enjoy a ride on the Ferris wheel, test your accuracy at the games, and don’t forget to grab a salty or sweet snack while you’re there! Admission is just $10 per person ($5 on Wednesday all day) and includes the grandstand events, all demonstrations, and commercial and animal exhibits.
Hemlock Little World's Fair
July 19-23, 2022
The Hemlock Little World’s Fair delivers big on family fun. Take a ride in a monster truck, enjoy nightly live music, and step back in time at the Heritage Museum, to see the fair as it was in the 1800s. Enjoy a monster truck rally, super farm tractor pulling and more. From the Sherriff Showdown and animal shows to the woodcarving demonstrations and the talent show, everyone in the family will find something to love.
Genesee County Fair
July 23-30, 2022
Returning for the 182nd year, the Genesee County Fair is one of the longest consecutively running county fairs in the state. A lot has changed since that first year, but some things still look like same; like the excitement of a fast ride and the first delicious bite into cotton candy. The fair is quintessential affordable family fun, with admission just $10 per car load. Over 8 days, attendees can enjoy daily 4H shows with over 1,200 animals, nightly live music, and a large midway full of rides made to thrill! With draft horse shows, pig races, stock car racing and demolition derbies, this is sure to be the fair of the summer!
Also be sure not to miss the North American 6-Horse Hitch Classic Series on July 22nd at 5:30 pm and July 23rd at 11:30am. rain date, Sunday July 24th

Wyoming County Fair
August 13 – 20, 2022
Held annually at the Pike Fairgrounds, the Wyoming County Fair highlights the best of country fun. With horse shows, parades, car shows, tractor pulls and more, there’s always something happening on the Fairgrounds. Grab a bag of hot popcorn or salty fries before the talent show, or stick around for the chicken BBQ and fish dinners. The best part is the array of animals that call the fair home for a week! Admission is free and parking is $10 per car.
Festivals & Celebrations
Ring of Fire on Conesus Lake
July 3, 2022
A pre-4th of July tradition not to be missed! The ritual of the ring of fire began in time of the Seneca Indians and continues with a few changes to this day. Every year as the sun sets, the residents of Conesus Lake light flares along the water’s edge, creating an enchanting ring of fire that circles the lake. After dark, the town of Livonia hosts an incredible fireworks show at the north end of the lake. Visitors can enjoy the best views from Vitale Park or Long Point Park.
Lyndonville's 4th of July Celebration
July 4, 2022
Bursting fireworks, big parade in a small town, creative arts & crafts vendors, and blankets spread on the grass - this is what it means to celebrate the 4th of July the American way! One of the largest 4th of July events in Western NY includes live music, an Arts and Crafts show featuring local vendors, a delicious Chicken BBQ, and a spectacular fireworks show.
Geneseo Rotary Summer Festival
July 8-9, 2022
For nearly 40 years, the Genesee Rotary Summer Festival has rung in summer in Geneseo. Enjoy a weekend of classic summer fun, with live music, local craft vendors, delicious food, and even a petting zoo! The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra performs to fireworks on Friday while sidewalk sales unearth hidden treasures all weekend long. Come for one night or both, and see what small town summer celebrations are all about!
